Roger Bouck Receives Governor's & United Way Awards

Roger Bouck, a long time Bluebill member, was recently awarded the State of Washington Governor’s Award for Excellence for Outstanding Volunteer Service in 2005

Roger put in nearly 1800 tireless hours of volunteer service in 2005 at 11 local nonprofit organizations. Roger has made immense and positive impacts and continues to do so for local communities.

Then on a more local level on September 7, 2006 Roger was honored by United Way at their annual Spirit of Snohomish County breakfast. Roger received the Reeves/Sievers Founders Award for his lifetime of public service.

Roger has been volunteering on projects for 40 years and for the past 12 years much of his volunteer time has been spent with Bluebills. He was instrumental in opening the Sno-King Chapter, the Everett store house for World Vision, and Volunteer Expo.

Roger is also very active at Rotary, RotaCare Free Clinics, North Puget Sound Presbytery, Alaska NW Presbyterian Synod, World Vision Gifts in Kind Program, Volunteers of America, United Way, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Senior Services, Evergreen Fair Wheelchair booths and on and on.

How did Roger become so involved in volunteer service? Seeing the needs in the community has driven him to be a catalyst for change. "I’m alert to the community’s needs and I like to help people." Roger says. "That’s been the focus of my later life"

Like many who get involved in the community after retirement, Roger belives in keeping the mind and body active as a way to live longer and healthier.
