BOEING RETIREE VOLUNTEERS

Heritage Honorees:

Heritage Honors for 2007 to Mussman, Lambert

Recipients of the Heritage chapter Volunteer of the year awards were Art Mussman and Bob Lambert.

Art Mussman is one of the original members of the Bluebills, he joined the Bluebills in the first months of it's origin.  He developed the data base the Bluebills used to track the agencies they serve and their volunteer needs and though it has been modified by the Boeing Computer Services, it is still in use today.  Art managed the Bluebills office for seven (7) years.

Art has served as a Community Advisor at Evergreen HOSPITAL Medical Center for thirteen (13) years.  He also sits on Evergreen's Home Health Care Professional Advisory Committee.

Art is a charter member of the Kirkland Senior Council group responsible to the Kirkland City Council to ensure that the needs of all seniors are addressed.  He has served as chair of the Volunteer Committee, a group that acts to encourage seniors to volunteer in the community.  He currently chairs the Aging-in-Place subcommittee which last year created a video advocating Aging-in-Place.

For the past ten (10) years, Art has been the Treasurer of the local Air Force Association Chapter; he is also treasurer of the Puget Sound Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association; he has served on the Finance Council and is now serving on the Stewardship Council at his Church; Art is currently a King County representative on the Aging and Disability Services Advisory Council and serves on the Planning & Allocation Committee.

Bob Lambert was instrumental in founding Bluebills. Before he retired he served as the Boeing interface with a group trying to establish an organization of retiree volunteers devoted to community service. The organization is now known as Bluebills. After he retired, he worked full time to help employees transition into retirement and into Bluebills. That effort has evolved into three thriving chapters. Since then Bob has has been steadily involved is all phases of the organization serving several terms as a member and vise-chairman on the Central Leadership Council.

Bob recently completed a history on the origins of our one-of-a-kind organization, is currently Chairman of the Bluebills Heritage Chapter, and has also been honored for his work with the Brain Injury Association using his influence to educate children on the use of helmets and other bike safety practices.

Bob is a retired Air Force Officer and has served as the president of the Northwest Chapter of the National Military Intelligence Officers and as president of the Association of Former intelligence Officers.  He continues his association with the military and was instrumental in coordinating a trip to McCord AFB for Bluebills members.

It is because of Bob and his artist friend, Phil Janny, that we enjoy the symbol of our organization.  He led the efforts of Bluebills in donating the original oil painting to the Museum of Flight in Seattle where it is on permanent display
