SnoKing Hears Call from Santa With 1,000 Christmas Stockings
| A call came in from Santas workshop that time was running out and many stockings needed to be stuffed. Many Bluebills, always quick to respond to an important need, turned out for duty in the factory (workshop). The area really resembled Santas work area as there were stockings, gifts and boxes everywhere. (In the photo above, taken in the summer, a tropical Bill Forde counts the stocking panels that will be assembled and stuffed as Christmas nears. Below (left to right), Linda Berquist, Jean Deering and Pat Colyer check stocking packages from the donated gifts. Vivian Gale and Patsy Otzen are busy in the background.) |

| The stockings, filled with gifts provided by Boeing employees, were heaped high in large tubs (see bottom photo). Each stocking had to be emptied out to make sure that there were no unsafe items, that each stocking was suitable for the age and that each stocking contained a variety of gifts. Ralph Viola (right) is still stocking-stuffing, even as Christmas gets rather near, and Vivian Gale is still in the background, working. |

The Bluebills elves were: Alan and Vivian Gale, Jean Deering, Linda Berquist, Rose Johnson, Ralph Viola, Jean Patterson and Husband, Lee and Wanda Thomas, Betty Marleau, Bob and Pat Colyer and Patsy Otzen.
Rose Johnson (left), head elf of the Stocking Project, was even working through lunchtime, judging from the clock behind her. (We're guessing that it was not after midnight, because she is looking so alert and happy.)
The overflowing boxes of stockings (below) give you an idea of how productive the Stocking Project was.
Thanks to all who donated gifts and time to make Christmas happier for so many children. |
