CLC Hosts Exclusive Visit With VP Anne Roosevelt

The Bluebills hosted an exclusive visitor at the Central Leadership Council’s monthly meeting in April.

The guest of honor was Anne Roosevelt, Boeing Vice President of Global Corporate Citizenship. Based in Chicago, Ms. Roosevelt spent the day in Seattle, learning about Bluebills operations and how The Boeing Company can help contribute to its success.

Ms. Roosevelt is head of what was formerly called Community Relations. Two years ago, the corporate team was reorganized to enhance the company’s growing global enterprise under a new name, Global Corporate Citizenship. GCC is the network that supports this integration.

"We have been trying to garner support for our efforts at the company’s highest levels for some time," said Merv Shetler, CLC chairman "Sue Patterson, our Bluebills interface with the company, has been working to get on Ms. Roosevelt’s schedule when she has visited Seattle in the past. She finally succeeded. From what I understand, Ms. Roosevelt came to Seattle this time mainly to visit us!"

Every chapter chair had a chance to give her overview of its activities face to face. At the luncheon that followed, all the Bluebill guests had a chance to introduce themselves and talk informally about how they became volunteers and their views on community involvement. A primary focus was on the Bluebills’ early years where much of the volunteer hours were devoted to educational endeavors.

Shetler said, "We came away with the feeling that she was impressed with our efforts, and we were certainly impressed with her. She was gracious, sincere and asked great questions. I feel as a result of our meeting that we will be entering a new era of understanding and cooperation."

The luncheon was also a farewell event for Sue Patterson, who will be moving on to another assignment in Human Relations up in Everett. Sue said she was sorry to leave the Bluebills.

She said, "You Bluebills were one of the best parts of my work statement. You are passionate, committed, and an amazing group of people!"
