Bluebills a Catalyst for Seafair Princess

There's a Miss Bluebills at this year's schedule of Seafair festivities and her name is Carmela Llaneta. She is one of 22 Seafair princesses in the Miss Seafair Scholarship Program for Women and in the running for Miss Seafair and her court.

We are justly proud that Carmela chose Bluebills as her sponsor, and it is in large part due to the influence of her dad, Bob Llaneta, one of our volunteers. The family has always been involved in community service work. Carmela managed to keep up her grades while doing her own share --volunteering at Swedish Hospital delivering flowers to patients and collecting food from vendors for the Pike Place Market's food bank.

An honors graduate at Holy Names Academy, Carmela is the only child of Bob and Lita. Bob retired after 35 years with Boeing where he was an information systems specialist.

In the fall, Carmela will be attending the University of Washington, hoping for a career in marine biology. For now, her calendar will be full of parades and community festivals, and taking a few minutes, when there's an opportunity, to spread the word about Bluebills.
